Shine Fights looking to start strong in 2010
by J. ANdrew Yount
With a new year comes new hopes and new opportunities. One organization looking
to make a surge in 2010 will be Shine Fight Promotions. After putting together
two very solid shows in 2009, and spending the latter part of the year signing
some of the best free agent talent available, Shine has begun planning for their
third show. Some of those acquisitions are expected to be showcased at the next
offering. Talent such as: former professional boxer Ricardo Mayorga, PrideFC
star Murilo ‘Ninja’ Rua, and a host of others.
While nothing is official
at this point, all signs are pointing to March for the next offering from Shine.
A venue and broadcast availability have yet to be named, but a source close to
the organization expects that the event will be available on
pay-per-view.
The most anticipated bout on the card will undoubtedly be
the MMA debut of Ricardo Mayorga. Mayorga’s September signing sent shock waves
through sport. Since then, athletes from across the sport have lined up to
welcome Mayorga to the ranks of the sport; some warm, some not-so-warm. Whatever
the feelings or outcome, his debut will likely be one of the bigger stories of
the year.
Shine officials have been tight lipped about any potential
candidates to face off against Mayorga. Although other potential bouts seem to
be taking shape:
